Look What the Hypothetical Cat Brought Back In.

For all that is worth, here I am typing now on Blogger. I feel like I may have a stubborn will to write after all, even though I never really considered the written word to be a natural aspect of my being.

And yet here I am now, filling this taunting blank sheet with random content in Times New Roman preview. How did it come down to this? Why Blogger? I originally intended to start a blog here back in 2008 under the title of “SquidBox”, however that is simply now a far-forgotten dream of my high school years.

Ever since that same year, I started to use Twitter to which I kept my humble set of followers thoroughly annoyed quite amused, and the “micro-blogging” platform did keep my short-attention span and instant gratification needs in constant peak. However it has been a long set of 13 years since 2008, and a lot has happened.

Just as Barrack Hussein Obama raised to presidency on what several of us considered back then an archetypal symbol of social progress, over all it simply turned to be an apex monument to hollow symbolisms. 2012 followed to his re-election, however also dragging along the rising popularity of the ever amazing and ever nature-challenging sentient golem of sewer grease that pretends the alias of Donald J. Trump. (I refuse to research what the J. means.), and against the eternal smugness of the neoliberal Democrats, he got elected as 45th President of the United States of America, yielding to a reign that lasted four eternal years.

Relax, I do not feel like dissecting the ugly nooks and crannies right now, I already had more than enough about all that too.

And now today, the chilly day of January 25th, 2021, I am no longer a high school teenager with naive dreams of moving to a floundering city and carry assumptions such as “if people live in this town, therefore they can get paid enough to stay in it”. Oh, and it is also the first week of government of 46th United States President Joseph Biden. (Does he have a middle name?... eh, I don’t care.), many people have a fair reason to celebrate, others are endlessly frustrated as signs for an “Obama 2” era seems to be a possibility on the horizon.

Is this the beginning of a new floundering era, or the beginning of the end of all our hopes and dreams? Unfortunately, as much of a political Mothman I can be, I am not a psychic either.

I suddenly had an urge to start a blog, in 2021, after the storm of social media brought the worst of humanity out there in the world and forged the Republican party into the avatar of explicit neofascism. Did I mention they literally assaulted the Capitol 19 days ago? That was kind of crazy.

I was originally going to say “but enough about politics...”, however I am inevitably embedded to politics. I am a very opinionated person with the prosperity of strangers in my mind; however I intend this blog to NOT be all about that.

Aren’t you a lucky one?

I intend to make this blog just about anything that comes to my mind, and I want to get this box to just put everything into. It could be about video games, it could be about politics, it could be about my epiphanies regarding life itself, it could be about something funny I found— actually, if you already follow me on Twitter, i think you already have an idea of how it goes.

Why is this called “Takohako” then? Well, that is a good question indeed, my dearest strawman. In Japanese, tako (たこ) means octopus, and hako (はこ) means box. So therefore, this blog is technically named OctopusBox, making a tribute to the former nature of this pathetic excuse of a blog I abandoned on my younger years, and it makes a nice rhyme, it got some superficial poetry to it. Why Japanese? Simple, I am a huge weaboo, and I like it. There is nothing complex going on under the surface of why an octopus, or why I was thinking of a squid before, those are just things I was throwing on the wall there to think what stuck and sounded nice. So you can calm down on your headcanons and 5-hour long YouTube theory videos.

I don’t know what else to write right now, my head feels like this introduction has done well enough for now.

Next time?... I dunno, something that I want to pour my entire octopus-of-a-brain into this box to. Anything goes, as usual.

I also tend to stream on Twitch by the way, if you like to backseat on old videogames and have a thing for weird accents and bad audio settings.

Love.
